Schreiner Takes Mass Start

Thirteen year old Erik Schreiner (Saratoga Biathlon) won today’s 5.5 km summer biathlon mass start race. Schreiner used excellent shooting , hitting 14 out of 20, and fast running to easily distance the field of older competitors. Tom Moffett (Saratoga Biathlon) finished in second. Moffett had the lead after cleaning the first two prone stages, only to falter in standing. Eli Walker (Saratoga Biathlon) finished in third, only 9 seconds out of second.

Stephanie Saucy (PA Biathlon) captured the woman’s 5.5 km race. In the 3.3 km events, Hannah Saucy (PA Biathlon) and Ben Balet had the best times.

Results

After the race a large group of volunteers went out on the trails and got them in tip top shape for winter. Thanks to everyone who came out today!
